The 2019 Wade Wind Down

19th December 2019

Twenty-year anniversaries, two new fettling machines, and some impressive achievements later – we’re completing 2019 on a high note.

It’s been 20 years now since Paul Farmer became our Managing Director, and Edward Duke became chairman of Wade Ceramics, and it’s fair to say that they have taken the company to a whole new level. To celebrate the twenty-year anniversary of the Wade management buyout, and the success, growth and award-winning ceramic creations of the last two decades, special edition Gluggle Jugs were produced for the employees and friends of Wade.

We invested in two new fettling machines at our Bessemer Drive Factory this year, taking our total to thirteen machines. Our award-winning ceramics are made possible by our fusion of traditional craftsmanship and modern techniques, and these brand-new machines have significantly increased our production rate and quality.

As our productivity heightens, so does our global reach. This year saw the start of our partnership with Spiritual Luxury Living, an Indian spirits consulting and advisory firm, allowing Wade to expand into the Indian market.

At Wade we wanted to do more to show our respect and dedication towards those who serve the country, alongside their families and spouses – therefore 2019 was the year we signed the Armed Forces Covenant. This is an agreement that no member of the Armed Forces community will face any sort of disadvantage, no matter what their circumstance, when it comes to working for Wade. We have and always will stand by our military, so signing this agreement was only natural.

It may still be 2019, but we were thrilled to be involved in the 2020 Icons of Whisky awards in in Scotland and Ireland. As a sponsor of the category ‘Craft Producer of the Year’, Paul had the honour of presenting this award to the worthy winners, Ballindalloch Distillery and Dingle Distillery. We were also proud sponsors at the Australian Distillers Association Conference, an event that brings together people from all corners of the distillery industry. Our Australian distributor this year, Norman Harrison, was at the conference, answering all of your questions.

The New Year is imminent, and we hope that next year proves to be even more successful than this one. We would like to thank all of our loyal customers and team members, as the growth and progress we have shown this year wouldn’t have been possible without your constant support and hard work.

Here’s to 2020!
