Last night, the Wade Ceramics team attended the Staffordshire Chambers Business Awards. Amongst the many winners was our very own apprentice, James Lyons, who won Young Employee/Apprentice of the Year. We are overjoyed and very proud that James won this award! Especially as we know the hard work that has resulted in this award. There was originally 250 applicants, that were put forward for this award, that was then brought down to 5 finalists, which were from a number of sectors. Then a panel of judges, from Skills Staffordshire, picked James as the winner!
Why do we employ apprentices?
There are many reasons why we like to work with apprentices. From our experience, we have found apprentices to be hard-working, enthusiastic and loyal. They fill skills gaps, make the team more productive, as well as bringing fresh and new ideas to the forefront. As well as investing in an apprentice’s future, you can also see them grow their skills and confidence, as well as find and mould their own passion.
Skills Training found that 80% of companies, who invested in apprentices, reported a significant increase in employee retention and 76% of those employers, who employ apprentices, agree they make their workplace more productive. So, why wouldn’t we have apprentices on our team?
Again, we would like to congratulate James on his award and for his hard work at Wade Ceramics thus far!
